Greetings,
I am excited to announce the 1st Annual Temple College Saxophone Day, November
10, 2007. This is an educational event designed to enhance students' performing
abilities on saxophone.
We have some important activities planned, including clinics and demonstrations
on the All-State Etudes for both TMEA and ATSSB classifications, and a concert
featuring performances by some excellent saxophone groups. The Day will begin at
11am and conclude by 5pm.
As well as performing on the ending concert, The Elision Saxophone Quartet will
be the Quartet-in-Residence. ESQ has an established reputation in Texas as a
professional quartet, and they have been listed on the Texas Commission on the
Arts Touring Roster since 2003. They have performed in Dallas, San Antonio,
Austin, Houston, Irving, Tyler, and San Angelo, among many others. Performances
abroad have included a 2-week tour of China, New York City, and a performance in
Nebraska scheduled for March, 2008.
In addition, each member is an educator with significant teaching experience.
ESQ members are:
Dr. Todd Oxford - Texas State University Dr. Colin Mason - Temple College Robert
Medina - Head Director, Temple High School Bands Billy McPhail - Saxophone
Instructor, Cedar Park schools, Austin
I am also very pleased to announce a performance by the Baylor University
Saxophone Choir, under the direction of Dr. Michael Jacobson. This is an
excellent ensemble, one your students will thoroughly enjoy.
I hope you and your students can take advantage of this opportunity, as this
will be a wonderful experience for everyone.
Attached is an announcement of the event with further details, as well as a
Registration Form. Please note that there are special prices for
pre-registering, as well as registering multiple students from one school.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
