  • Students should be preparing their music on their own in the next few weeks

  • We are expecting all students who earned a chair in one of the groups to attend and participate.  If you made one of the region bands and have a very particular reason that you CANNOT participate please email me and let me know why.

MULCH FUNDRAISER

This fundraiser runs from now to the end of January and we’re asking students to try to sell 100 bags of mulch.

  • Highlights

    • Two types of mulch to sell-Brown and Black

    • $6.00 per bag

    • 10 bag minimum order

    • Sell within the boundary only

    • Order forms are available in the front of the band hall anytime

    • Write NEATLY AND ACCURATELY on the order form

    • Give each customer a receipt

    • Turn in order forms with payment to the box by the uniform room

Attendance

  • If your student is well enough to attend school, they should be coming to practice and events unless they get sick in the middle of the day and are sent home by the nurse

  • Look ahead at the rehearsal and event schedule and plan your appointments and tutorial help around it

  • Attendance at rehearsals and events is mandatory unless otherwise specified

  • Absences due to sickness are excused with notification from a parent if the student has a fever, is vomiting or cannot otherwise get out of bed

  • Absences due to prolonged sickness/injury are excused with a doctor's note

  • Who do I email?  Mr. Mobley for Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony, Ms. Benford for Symphonic Band, Ms. Bouhadana for Concert Band, Mr. Hammack for all Percussion and Mr. Mendieta for Color Guard

  • Absences that are not excused-birthdays, completing homework, studying, test preparation, part time job, pop concerts, parties, vacations, weekend getaways

Grades and Eligibility

  • RRISD Eligibility Calendar

  • Students must remain academically eligible to participate in football games and marching contest performances and all TMEA activities

  • Should a student become ineligible they will still practice with the group during band class and in some cases, outside of the school day

  • There are two types of official grade reporting - IPR (Interim Progress Report) and Report Card

  • We are required to go by these official methods to determine eligibility

Heads Up!

  • SENIORS

    • 2025-2026 Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation Scholarship Application is still open for Graduating RRISD Seniors!

    •  The deadline to apply is  January 21, 2026 and we would love your help in spreading the word as much as possible.

      • The following scholarships are specific to Fine Arts Students:

        • Caroline Joyce Bindel Memorial Scholarship: For McNeil High School Seniors who have participated in cheer, dance team or musical theater

        • Kyle David Stoetzel Memorial Scholarship: Open to all Round Rock ISD Seniors who have a goal of studying Music Education in college, has served in the community as a volunteer and/or has overcome adversity to be accepted to college

        • Raymond Hartfield Memorial Scholarship: For Round Rock ISD Seniors in band, orchestra or choir

    • Students will complete one application link, which will include qualifying questions, and depending on how they answer these questions, will automatically match them to scholarships within our program

      •  Once matched, they will complete an essay question for each scholarship they are eligible for, and then they are done!  Super simple, and I encourage ALL Seniors to go through the process as we offer over 30 scholarships with a variety of criteria, including for students in Fine Arts, Athletics, CTE programs, etc.  For a full listing of scholarships, please visit our website HERE

  • UMHB ArtsRush

    • Friday, January 23 called ArtsRush

      • On the music side, it is a "day in the life" of a music major at UMHB

      • We will have samplings of classes in Theory, Conducting, Piano, and more

      • There will be a UMHB student recital, and numerous opportunities for your students to play and rehearse with us as well. If you have any current high school students interested in pursuing music in college, we encourage them to attend

    • The registration fee is $25 and that includes:

      • Breakfast, lunch, snacks

      • T-shirt

      • Swag bag

    • Flootapalooza is a solo performance opportunity open to all students! Learn any solo or etude and perform it for your friends and family on a beautiful stage! Performers will receive positive feedback and an outstanding performer in each age group will be awarded. This exciting event will be held Saturday, February 7. A sign up form will be on the website soon.
