Band Class Procedures and Plans
Weekly Class Plans (there are tabs at the bottom of the sheet for JV and V week of)
V percussion goes outside daily during class
V winds go outside on Tuesdays and Thursdays
JV winds and percussion usually go outside on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
Directors will listen to students weekly who are planning to audition at TMEA Region Band Auditions in December
Uniform Behavior
Do honor to the uniform
Act in a dignified way
No running unless instructed by a band director
No displays of affection in uniform
No horseplay or foolishness
No cursing, swearing or foul language of any kind
Act confidently
Act self-assuredly
Walk with pride
Keep your chin up
Be respectful of ALL, in our own band program, in others we meet and to all you encounter
Show strength when in uniform
Remain calm
Getting Dressed
Dress during the specified time on the schedule
Wear deodorant
Get dressed only as you were instructed to by the uniform crew, putting on each part of the uniform in sequence
If you go slowly, plan on using the full time. If you are fast, you may use less time
However much time you need, it cannot go past the specified time on the schedule
However much time you use to get dressed, you must do so carefully, wearing the uniform as instructed
Plan to get completely dressed, all at one time
Do not walk away from your items once you begin getting dressed
Stay with your uniform and all its parts once you begin getting dressed
We want to avoid getting uniform parts swapped, lost or “stolen,” so each member getting dressed all at one time, completely, and in the order prescribed is how we will combat this issue
Get entirely dressed in either full or half - this will depend on the instruction the band directors have given the full group. You must know which to do and then do it
Hold your shako correctly. Do not put it on until told to do so
Plumes and feathers (if being used) will be passed out by the uniform crew at the appropriate time
