We’ve had a good first couple of days here at school! The kids were super throughout Summer Band and we finished with good performances at Parent Preview and Band A Thon!
Usually these messages go out on Fridays, you get your first one a bit early this week.

Band Class Procedures and Plans

Students - if you want to know what we’re working on you can look at our Weekly Class Plans
V percussion goes outside daily during class
V winds go outside on Tuesdays and Thursdays
JV winds and percussion usually go outside on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
Directors will listen to students weekly who are planning to audition at TMEA Region Band Auditions in December

For now - no gloves
Color Guard and Percussion will have some special instructions for the Summer Uniform
NOT YET available - Shoes, Gloves, Show Shirts, Section Shirts, Band A thon shirt
Items ordered through the boosters will be distributed at a different time, please watch the booster newsletter for that information
Thursday, August 28th, Away vs. Shoemaker
7:00am JV at the stadium, V at the practice field
8:10am March On, Dragonettes run through - Runaway Baby for Dragonettes
8:30am To the band hall, clean up
9:00am Go to school
4:20pm School ends, EAT, refill DB water jug with water
4:50pm Get dressed in Summer Uniform
5:05pm Inspection
5:20pm Move to practice field and wait for buses
5:30pm (approx) Buses depart
6:45pm (approx) Arrive, quickly move into the stands
7:30pm Game begins
8:25pm (approx.) Halftime - Runaway Baby for Dragonettes, JV performs
10:10pm (approx.) Game ends, load trucks and buses
10:40pm (approx.) Depart for RR
12:00am (approx.) Arrive, store things properly and then head home
Grades and Eligibility
Students must remain academically eligible to participate in football games and marching contest performances and all TMEA activities
Should a student become ineligible they will still practice with the group during band class and in some cases, outside of the school day
There are two types of official grade reporting - IPR (Interim Progress Report) and Report Card
We are required to go by these official methods to determine eligibility
IMPORTANT DATES FOR MARCHING SEASON ELIGIBILITY
SEPTEMBER 19 UIL REQUIRED 6 WEEK GRADE CHECK
SEPTEMBER 26 ELIGIBILITY GAIN OR LOSE
OCTOBER 10 END OF 9 WEEKS GRADING PERIOD
OCTOBER 17 ELIGIBILITY GAIN OR LOSE
NOVEMBER 3 IPR GRADE CHECK DATE
NOVEMBER 10 ELIGIBILITY GAIN ONLY
Attendance
Look ahead at the rehearsal and event schedule and plan your appointments and tutorial help around it

Attendance at rehearsals and events is mandatory unless otherwise specified
Absences due to sickness are excused with notification from a parent if the student has a fever, is vomiting or cannot otherwise get out of bed
Absences due to prolonged sickness/injury are excused with a doctor's note
Who do I email? Mr. Mobley for Varsity Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony and Concert Band 2, Ms. Benford for Junior Varsity Marching Band and Symphonic Band and Ms. Bouhadana for Concert Band 1, Mr. Hammack for all Percussion and Mrs. Stone for all Color Guard.
Absences that are not excused-birthdays, completing homework, test preparation, pop concerts, parties, vacations, weekend getaways
