Hello Next Year's Dragon Band

I hope everyone is doing well this summer.  I wanted to touch base with reminders about all that will be coming up very soon.  Please take a look.

16 days until Summer Band begins!

Students should be spending time outside, getting some exercise, drinking plenty of water and putting in some time on their instruments and equipment.

If you (or your student) have transferred to Round Rock High School over  the summer, welcome!  Please read this message thoroughly and contact me with any questions you may have.  I will follow up with you separately regarding information needed from our Everything Day we held back in May.

Action Item #1

  • Sign Up for your Remind group right now:

  • All students must sign up for Remind - All parents are strongly encouraged to sign up for Remind

  • JV - Text @DBJV2025 to 81010

  • V - Text @DBV2025 to 81010

  • Color Guard - Text @RRCG2025 to 81010

Action Item #2

  • ONLY Students earning a spot in the VARSITY MARCHING BAND (including all Color Guard) must register for the trip to BOA GN in Indianapolis

  • Go to www.musictravel.com

  • Upper Right - Click the "Trip Login" link

  • Select "Register a New User"

  • Fill out contact information

  • Select "Register a Traveler"

  • Enter trip number 2511-3-44

  • Select "Make a Payment" to pay deposit and register

Important

  • We currently have the maximum amount of chaperones for our BOA Grand Nationals trip to Indianapolis and can accommodate no additional chaperones

  • We are still in need of Varsity Crew members.  These are students in our Junior Varsity marching band who would like to help with the Varsity group.  You may learn more and sign up HERE

  • Varsity - “Spark of Imagination”

    • Part 1&2 Drill

    • Part 3 Drill

    • The white umbrella thing you may see are light up *spark* props.  You’ll see these several times in the show as new ideas are introduced

    • Expect revisions in all of the drill thus far

    • Remember to check your part assignment here 

    • We’ll make drill spot assignments the first week of summer band

Incoming Parent Meeting

  • If you missed the incoming parent meeting in the spring or would like to review the slides, please see them  here 

UIL Physical Requirement for Marching Band

  • All band and color guard students must have a yearly physical to participate

  • Please arrange to have your physical completed and form signed by a physician by July 19th

  • Use and submit this form for your physical 

  • This form MUST be turned in before summer band or you will not be allowed to participate

  • Upload your form by July 19th here

Summer Band

Summer Band is mandatory, students must attend Summer Band, students must attend Summer Band

Summer Band is held at the Round Rock High School Band Hall and in rooms around the campus - 

Leadership Days - ONLY DRAGON BAND STUDENT LEADERS ATTEND!

  • Wednesday, July 16th-Friday, July 18th

  • Monday, July 21st-Tuesday, July 22nd

  • 9:00am-3pm

  • Only student leaders attends leadership days

Summer Band Week 1 - starting on a Wednesday

  • All Students Begin on July 23rd

  • Wednesday, July 23rd - Friday, July 25th

  • 7:00am-3:00pm

  • Lunch on your own from Noon-1pm

  • Varsity members (including Guard/Dance) also attend Thursday from 6:00-8:30pm

Summer Band Week 2

  • Monday, July 28th - Friday, August 1st

  • 7:00am-3:00pm

  • Lunch on your own from Noon-1pm

  • Varsity members (including Guard/Dance) also attend Tuesday/Thursday from 6:00-8:30pm

  • Saturday, August 2nd - Special VARSITY ONLY rehearsal, 7:00am-11:00am

Summer Band Week 3

  • Monday, August 4th - Friday, August 8th

  • 7:00am-3:00pm

  • Lunch on your own from Noon-1pm

  • Varsity members (including Guard/Dance) also attend Tuesday/Thursday from 6:00-8:30pm

Parent Preview - All members attend

  • Friday, August 8th

  • Dragon Stadium (indoors in a gym if raining)

  • Section Photos 5:00-6:00pm

  • Warm Up 6:00-7:00pm

  • Performances begin at 7:00pm

Special Saturday Event for Everyone

  • Saturday, August 9th

  • Band-A-Thon fundraiser

  • 8:00am-Noon

What to bring/wear to Summer Band

  • Returning members bring Dragon Band water jug

  • New members will get a Dragon Band water jug (filled) on the first day of summer band

  • Instrument and music

  • Comfortable clothing in which you can easily move-No Jeans

  • Hat-advisable to avoid sunburn

  • Sunscreen

  • Athletic shoes-VERY IMPORTANT to avoid injury from long term stress-No Sandals, No Flip Flops, No Vans, No Slippers, No Boat Shoes, No shoes with poor support
