David Mobley ~ Head Band Director

An Austin native, David Mobley is a graduate of Leander High School where he was a student of Dennis Hopkins and studied trombone with Russell Brown. While attending the University of Texas, he was a member of the Longhorn Band, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and the Trombone Choir and was a student of Donald Knaub. While in college Mr. Mobley was a member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from Rockford, Illinois and was also later a staff member of the same corps. After graduating from UT he taught in Houston, Texas and Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was a successful assistant band director and winter guard director. When not teaching, Mr. Mobley enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, 11 year old son and his 9 year old and 7 year old daughters.  He is active in his church and enjoys reading, running, and bicycling. This is his 17th year at RRHS and his 23rd year of teaching overall.

Steve Roeder ~ Associate Band Director

Steve Roeder received his Bachelor of Music Education from Texas State University.  While at the University, Mr. Roeder was principle percussionist of the Wind Ensemble, section leader of the drumline, member of the percussion ensemble and steel band.  In addition, he was the percussion instructor at Bowie High School as well as a percussion clinician for various high schools across the state.  Upon graduation, Mr. Roeder taught at Copperas Cove High School.  Mr. Roeder is a member of TMEA, TBA and PAS. This is his 28th year of teaching, and his 22nd year at Round Rock High School. He supervises the percussion department at RRHS including "Rock Drums", the award-winning drumline, all ensembles and solos, and the Chisholm Trail Middle School percussion program.

Cathy Benford ~ Assistant Band Director

Miss Cathy Benford is the Assistant Band Director at Round Rock High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Texas State University (then Southwest Texas State University) and her Masters of Music in Instrumental Conducting from Sam Houston State University. While attending Texas State University, she performed with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensembles, Athletics Bands and was also a member of the Panorama Steel Drum Band. At Sam Houston State University, she conducted the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Lab Band and was the Director of the Concert Band, as well as taught several Music Education courses.

Prior to Round Rock High School, she was the Director of Instrumental Music at Sci-Tech Preparatory School where she was named Champion For Children for the year in her district, the Director of Bands at Tascosa High School in Amarillo, TX; Assistant Band Director and Director of Jazz Studies at Stony Point High school and was the Music Specialist at Robertson Elementary, both in Round Rock ISD.

Miss Benford has served on the Board of Directors and Administrative Staff of Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps and was a Founding Member and Executive Director for Austin Stars Perfoming Arts Association. She has served as a member of the Abelton Edu-Team as well as an M-Powered Educator for M-Audio. She is a Founding Director and was the webmaster for the Texas Jazz Educator’s Association. She has served as the Texas Music Educators Association Region 18 Secretary and the Texas Music Educators Association Region 26 Jazz Coordinator, and currently serves at the Region 26 Band Secretary/Treasurer.

Professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Jazz Educators Association, Jazz Education Network, College Band Director’s National Association, World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, College Music Society, Marquis Who’s Who of American Women, Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity and Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Music Fraternity.

Isabelle Bouhadana ~ Assistant Band Director

Isabelle Bouhadana received her Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of North Texas in 2019 where she studied flute in Professor Terri Sundberg’s studio with Dr. Rachel Woolf and Terri Sundberg. While at UNT, Ms. Bouhadana participated in many large ensembles including the Green Brigade Marching Band, Concert and University Bands, Flute Choir, and Women’s Chorus. Ms. Bouhadana is also an alumni member of Mu Phi Epsilon, an international professional music fraternity, where she served as Vice President of the Phi Tau Chapter for two terms. After college, Ms. Bouhadana started her teaching career in Victoria, Texas where she taught grades 6-12 at Victoria West HS and Cade MS. During her time in Victoria, Ms. Bouhadana led the Band of Warriors to several Sweepstakes awards in UIL Concert and Marching, as well as Grand Champion at Bay Area Marching Contest in 2019. When she’s not teaching, Ms. Bouhadana spends her time traveling with friends, reading, and listening to musicals.

Whitney Stone ~ Color Guard Director

Whitney Stone grew up in Sylva, North Carolina. She danced for 8 years with a studio in her younger years and attended Smoky Mountain High School, graduating in 2003. She was a member of the band as a flutist and joined color guard during her Sophomore year. After graduating, She marched with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps for 5 years, 2003-2007, and was a captain for 2006 & 2007. In 2007, the Guard placed 2nd at DCI. She also marched at WCU in the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band from 2003-2005 and was a co-captain of the guard in 2005. She performed with The Study IW winter guard in 2004-2005 and First Flight IO in 2006. After that, she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to immerse herself in the guard community and march the Pride of Cincinnati in 2007 (World Champions) and 2008 (Silver Medalists). In 2009 she marched Zydeco World. She performed with the first-ever, Pride of Cincinnati Dance Ensemble in 2014, and choreographed a piece for the concert. She has had the opportunity to teach many BOA, DCI, and WGI ensembles: Zydeco IW, First Flight IW, Origins IO, Carmel HS (BOA, ISSMA, IHSCGA and WGI Champions), Hendrickson HS, Marcus HS, Center Grove HS, Northview HS, Cedar Ridge HS, Westwood HS, Lawrence Central HS, Leander HS, Greenfield Central HS, Decatur Central HS, New Palestine HS, Vista Ridge HS, Westlake HS, Bassett HS, Moe and Gene Johnson HS, Brazoswood HS, ATX winter guard, Inov8 WG, Violet Crown Percussion, Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps; as well as other groups in North Carolina, Indiana, Ohio and Texas.

  • Flute

    Gabrielle Davis is a flutist whose musical interests include performing contemporary, romantic, and French Impressionistic works. Celebrated for her ‘resonant and soulful playing’ by Dr. Claudia Anderson, as a recent graduate, Gabrielle has earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from the University of North Texas. In addition, she attends the University of Texas at Austin under the tutelage of Marianne Gedigian in pursuit of a master’s degree in Flute Performance. During her time at UNT, Gabrielle studied primarily under the tutelage of Dr. James Scott and Terri Sundberg. Gabrielle has also had the privilege of studying under world-class flutists in masterclass settings. To name a few, she has worked with Jim Walker, Ebonee Thomas, Maria Harding, Jeff Zook, and Amy Taylor.

  • Clarinet

    Anna Carney, has been the clarinet instructor at RRHS since 1997 and has placed many students in Region Bands and All-State Ensembles. In addition to teaching at RRHS, Ms. Carney currently also teaches music at Southwestern University in Georgetown and Temple College. Previous teaching assignments have included being a middle school band director for 7 years, and a clarinet professor at the university level for 20 years.

    Ms. Carney received her Bachelors degree in Music Education from San Diego State University and her Masters in clarinet performance from SDSU. Her Doctoral work in clarinet was at Florida State University.

    As an active performer in Central Texas, Ms. Carney is a member of the Brazos Valley Symphony and a founder of the chamber ensembles Arte Musique and the Madera Trio. In addition to her Central Texas performing career, she continues to perform nationally and internationally when possible. Ms. Carney's major clarinet teachers were Kalman Bloch of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, James Kanter of the Pacific Symphony, and Frank Kowalsky at Florida State University.

  • Oboe

    Rebecca Fairweather Haskins is the principal oboist of both the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Temple Symphony, and plays second oboe and English horn in the Round Rock Symphony. Rebecca is adjunct instructor of oboe at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, as well as a private teacher for many oboe students in central Texas. Rebecca holds a master’s degree in Oboe Performance from the University of Texas and a bachelor’s degree in Oboe Performance with Teacher Certification from the University of Michigan.

  • Bassoon

    Daniel Chrisman brought his bassoons to Austin in 2007 to make his fortune as the contrabassoonist of the Austin Symphony. He has delighted in making music with fabulous orchestras and chamber music ensembles in Texas ever since. Chrisman holds positions playing the bassoon and contrabassoon in the Austin Symphony and the Austin Opera orchestras, as well as in the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra. He's the adjunct professor of bassoon at Southwestern University and is a private lesson instructor on staff in several area school districts. His primary instructors were Peter Simpson at the University of Kentucky, Matthew Karr at the University of Louisville and Danny Matsukawa at Temple University. When not playing his bassoons, Daniel loves working out, spending time with family, and sneaking around the kitchen for delicious midnight snacks.

    In 2005, Kevin earned his bachelor's degree in music performance with emphasis in classical saxophone from The University of Texas at Austin. There, he studied privately with world-renowned saxophonist and teacher, Harvey Pittel. While at UT, Kevin performed with the UT Symphony Band, the UT Wind Ensemble, Tex Sax, and the UT Jazz Ensemble. For almost two decades, he has played in many rock, jazz, and funk influenced bands in Austin, such as Navin's Thermos, About:Blank, and Gladiators Big Band. He currently performs regularly with the Austin Saxophone Ensemble. Kevin has been teaching private lessons at schools in Austin, Leander, and Round Rock ISD since 2003. He lives with his wife Sarah, twin boys Owen and August, and their dog Mattie, in North Austin.

    Hi, I'm Robert Perkins! I was born and raised in NC and now living in Austin, Texas. I have always been a jack-of-all trades and I am most passionate about music and photography. I have taught music since 2006 with emphasis on saxophone and piano. I am a conservatory-trained musician and thrilled to be able to educate the next generation to enjoy music and its importance mentally and emotionally. I have a BM in Saxophone Performance and am working on two Masters Degrees in Saxophone Performance and Music Education simultaneously.

    Maggie Demel is a professional performer and music educator that resides in the

    surrounding Austin Area. She has performed all around the US and has competed

    internationally as well. Some professional organizations she has worked with include the Victoria Symphony, Santa Fe Symphony, and the New Mexico Philharmonic. Her passion and love for music shine through in her work as a soloist, performer, educator. She was born and raised in Pflugerville, Texas just outside of Austin. Ms.Demel received her Bachelors in Music Education from the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque where she studied under Dr. Mike Walker. She went on to receive her Masters in Music Performance at the University of Texas - Austin with the guidance of Professor Pat Hughes, where she also served as the Teaching Assistant for the Horn Studio.

    Zach Bixler is a tuba player and teacher based in Round Rock, and holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Texas Tech University.

    During his time at Texas Tech, Zach studied with Dr. Kevin Wass, an internationally respected pedagogue and member of the tuba euphonium community. Zach is a native of Round Rock and has been teaching in the area for 5 years in addition to performing with groups such as the Austin Brass Collective, a North Austin based brass ensemble.

    Percussion instructor and performer. I have been teaching at Round Rock High School for 19 years. "Hands" guy and Battery tech for Rock Drums. Performs as a percussionist (conguero) for 3 touring bands : Grupo Fantasma, Brownout and Money Chicha.
