Hello Next Year's Dragon Band!

I said my last message would be it for email but here we are again!  I wanted to remind everyone about Everything Day next week - you must attend!  We've got a lot of things to cover and will need everyone present to do so.

AND...IMPORTANT - SIGN UP FOR YOUR REMIND GROUP:  I will be sending communications through Remind instead of email from here out.  There is information below about which Remind group to sign up for.  It works best to have the Remind App but it's not necessary.

On the results you will see your name listed in an ensemble and also a column marked JV/V

  • If you are listed in periods 1/5, 2/6 or 3/7 and JV, you will be in 4/8 during the fall

  • If you are listed in periods 4/8 and V, you will be in 3/7 during the fall

  • Every student is in class every day

  • ONLY Students earning a spot in the VARSITY MARCHING BAND (including all Color Guard) must register for the trip to BOA GN in Indianapolis

  • Go to www.musictravel.com

  • Upper Right - Click the "Trip Login" link

  • Select "Register a New User"

  • Fill out contact information

  • Select "Register a Traveler"

  • Enter trip number 2511-3-44

  • Select "Make a Payment" to pay deposit and register

Action Item #3

  • Parents interested in being a chaperon for the BOA GN trip in November, please complete this form

  • This is not a sign up for chaperoning on other band trips, this is ONLY for the Indianapolis trip

Color Guard Announcements

Color Guard members are automatically classified as Varsity as there is no Junior Varsity Color Guard.  Guard members and guard parents - please go to the Everything Day website to review dates, times and costs!  Go to dragonband.com, Members, the password is DB2324 and then look for Everything Day 2025 right under the picture of the big tree!

  • Friday, May 16th, 100 Building Student Center, 6:00pm

  • All current (including all seniors) and incoming and new Color Guard students are invited!

Color Guard Pre Summer Camp - at the Round Rock High School Band Hall/Gyms

  • Tuesday, May 27th - Friday, May 30th

  • 9:00am-5:00pm

  • Lunch on your own from Noon-1pm

Junior Varsity Marching Band Announcements

  • The JV marching show will be called "Rhythm Works" and will include music by Christina Huss and David Eastmond

  • First up is a piece called "Brace for Impact" and then will come a song called "Beyond the Blue Planet"

  • Both pieces of music feature brisk tempos and a variety of textures and timbres

  • Music for the show may be found here

  • Our drill writer for the Varsity group, Joe Huls, will be writing drill for this show

  • The JV band will be attending the Vista Ridge Marching Festival and the UIL Region Marching Contest in addition to performing at 4 football games during halftime

  • Junior Varsity students interested in becoming part of our CREW to assist with the Varsity show can sign up here to express their interest

  • Students chosen for CREW will attend select Varsity rehearsals, all performances and competitions including the BOA Grand Nationals trip to Indianapolis

  • There is an extra fee to cover competition day meals and charter bus costs

  • Wednesday, July 23rd - Friday, July 25th

  • 7:00am-3:00pm

  • Lunch on your own from Noon-1pm

  • Varsity members (including Guard/Dance) also attend Thursday from 6:00-8:30pm

Summer Band Week 2

  • Monday, July 28th - Friday, August 1st

  • 7:00am-3:00pm

  • 8:00am-Noon

What to bring/wear to Summer Band

  • Returning members bring Dragon Band water jug

  • New members will get a Dragon Band water jug (filled) on the first day of summer band

  • Instrument and music

  • Comfortable clothing in which you can easily move-No Jeans

  • Hat-advisable to avoid sunburn

  • Sunscreen

  • Athletic shoes-VERY IMPORTANT to avoid injury from long term stress-No Sandals, No Flip Flops, No Vans, No Boat Shoes, No shoes with poor support
